Velociraptor is a genus of dromaeosaurid that lived approximately 75-71 million years ago, in the Campanion-Maastrichtian stages of the Late Cretaceous period. It appeared as a major species in Dinosaur Planet. In the documentary, it is incorrectly shown as living 80 million years ago.

In the show there are a total of 8 Velociraptors: White Tip, Blue Brow, Broken Hand, 2 Female raptors, and 3 raptor chicks.

Errors

• All the Velociraptors were living five million years earlier than they actually did.
• Evidence of Velociraptors being a pack-hunter is extremely limited.
• Although accurately covered in feathers it should also posses wings and a tail fan.
• Velociraptor couldn't have had its hands facing downwards without painfully braking them.

Trivia

• The genus was given a tad of sexual dimorphism: females made white, males made grey and blue.
• A Velociraptor from Jurassic Park had a cameo in the first episode, before morphing into one shown in this series.
• Today it is believed Velociraptor was nocturnal or crepuscular, which is common in desert-animals.
• The sounds used for the calls of the Velocriaptor chicks are squeaks and calls of Guinea Pigs.
• The sounds for the Velociraptor are re-used Dromaeosaur sound effects from When Dinosaurs Roamed America.
