Rhabdodon (meaning "fluted tooth") is a genus of ornithopod dinosaur that lived in Europe approximately 70–66 million years ago in the Late Cretaceous. It is similar in build to a very robust "hypsilophodont" (non-iguanodont ornithopod), though all modern phylogenetic analyses find this ("Hypsilophodontia/tidae") to be an unnatural grouping, and Rhabdodon to be a basal member of Iguanodontia.
In Dinosaur PlanetEdit
The mainland species of Rhabdodon are first seen feeding alongside titanosaurs. The herd appears again after a tremor, stampeding towards the beach and forcing a pack of Pyroraptors there as well. While they are on the beach it is hit by a tsunami, likely killing many of them. On Hateg Island, dwarf versions of the Rhabdodon are seen being hunted by a pack of dwarf dromaeosaurs, with the pack successfully killing a slower individual. A herd of the rhabdodonts later appear, where two males battle for dominance over the herd. In the ensuing fight, the challenger is badly injured by the defending male's thumb spike and is knocked to the ground. A group of Allodaposuchus move in and kill the wounded animal, before Pod arrives and scares away the crocodiles from the kill.
- Though the creature's design greatly resembles Rhabdodon, and the Dinoviewer from the Discovery website refers to them as Rhabdodon at one point, in the episode, both the mainland and dwarf variants are erroneusly referred to as Iguanodon.
